John Marion Ritchie, 91, of Pekin, IL passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Carle Health Proctor in Peoria, IL.
He was born on October 18, 1934, in Cedar Point, IL to John and Olga (Benedetti) Ritchie. His parents preceded him in death.
John married Donna Jean Dulian on October 31, 1964, in Ottawa, IL; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Stefanie Lee (William) Edgar, John Russell (Anne) Ritchie, Daniel Joseph (Samantha) Ritchie; grandchildren, William Edgar, Ainsley Edgar, Kathryn Edgar, Devlin Edgar, Sabrina Ballard, Autumn Calvin, Luke Ritchie, Leah Ritchie, John Ritchie, Jacob Ritchie, Jude Ritchie and sister, Elanna Wernsman.
He served in the U.S. Army as a SGT in Company A, 2nd Airborne Battle Group 187thInfantry 101st Airborne Division. John was a proud Army Veteran.
John attended Lasalle-Peru High School, did his undergrad study in Forestry at Iowa State University and received his Law Degree from the University of Colorado. He worked as an Attorney until he retired in 2019.
To John, family was the most important thing in his life. He loved his wife and children and lived for them. He was passionate about woodworking and loved fishing and hunting. He was proud of his service in the United States Army serving in the 101st Airborne. He continued his service as an Attorney serving his clients to the best of his ability.
John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, IL.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Abts Mortuary in Pekin, IL. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery on the corner of South 5th Street and Petri Lane in Pekin, IL with Military Honors. Deacon Mark Wilder will officiate.
