Joseph Tassart Jr., 83, of Pekin passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
He was born April 9, 1941, in Pekin to Joseph and Elizabeth Lubitz Tassart Sr. His parents and grandson-in-law, Tony Silvaggio preceded him in death.
He married Carol A. Espenscheid on November 5, 1965, in Pekin; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Stacey (Keith) Campbell, Stephanie (Paul) Malavolti, Steven (Jessie) Tassart; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Silvaggio, Andrew Malavolti, Courtney Campbell, Haley Malavolti, Jace Tassart, Parker Tassart, Livie Tassart; great-granddaughter, Victoria Silvaggio and brother, Kenny Tassart.
Joe graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1959. He worked for Keystone Steel & Wire, retiring in 2003.
He loved his wife and family. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren at their sporting events. Joe was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin and active member for many years of the Pekin Moose Lodge 916 where he was a past Governor. He was a former member of the Peoria Motorcycle Club where he enjoyed racing. Joe loved golfing, bowling, fishing, playing cards and vacationing at Star Lake. He enjoyed watching motorcycle races, the Green Bay Packers, and St. Louis Cardinals.
Cremation has been accorded and a memorial visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin.
