Obituary for Joyce Anske
Joyce Louise Anske, 90, of Bartonville passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014, peacefully at her home. She was born on June 17, 1924, in Bartonville, IL, the daughter of Lillian May (Nevitt) and Thomas Henry Thomas. She married Frederick Eugene Anske on September 12, 1944. He preceded her in death in May, 2000.
Joyce is survived by her two children, Cheryl (Dave) Richards of Peoria, and Gary (Sarah) Anske of Pottstown; sister-in-law, Gladys Thomas of Pekin; six grandchildren, Darin (Hollie) Richards, Renee Webb, Derek (Liz) Richards, Eric (Holly) Anske, Joan (“Murph”) Murphy, and Jason Anske; thirteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie Thomas and Lyle Thomas; and two sisters, Elizabeth Rhoads and Arlene Gall. Joyce loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and being involved in their lives. She was also a passionate sports fan, and particularly enjoyed watching and rooting-on her Duke Blue Devils. Cremation has been accorded. Graveside services and burial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Lutheran Cemetery, 914 S. Pleasant St., in Peoria. Rev. Karen Merrick of First Christian Church of Peoria, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joyce’s name to UnityPoint Hospice Methodist, 221 NE Glen Oak Avenue, Peoria, IL 61636, or to First Christian Church of Peoria, 6400 N. University, Peoria, IL 61614.
