Obituary for Joyce Martha Durand
Joyce Martha Durand 77, of Pekin passedx away on Thursday February 21, 2008 at her home with her family by her side. Born in Panama, Il on November 23, 1930 the daughter of Charles and Lena McCario Bussone, she married Robert Durand in Pekin on July 29, 1950. He preceded her in death on October 5, 1997 along with her parents and son Robert Charles Durand. Joyce is survived by her children; Richard (Nancy) Durand, Cindy (David) Shallenberger both of Pekin, Vicky (Mark A.) Theobald of East Peoria, brother Charles “Chuck” (Joanne) Bussone of Pekin and her 5 grand and 12 great grandchildren. She worked in Catalog Sales for J.C. Penny’s and was a Secretary at C. B. Smith and Marquette Heights grade schools, retiring in 1994. Her number 1 priority was caring for her family, especially for her grandchildren. Joyce was an avid fisherman and bingo player and enjoyed reading and working puzzles. A funeral will be held for her on Tuesday Feb 26, at 11 O’clock at Abts Mortuary. Rev Tom Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in her name to the Normandale Reformed Church 2001 S 2nd St. Pekin. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
