Obituary for Judith Mason
Judith Verjean Eaton Mason was born on December 13, 1939, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Charles and Berniece Eaton.
She is survived by two children: Kristie Embry of Mackinaw; Kent (Amy) Connett of Mackinaw; one sister, Patti (Ron) Hauk of Mackinaw; one brother, Gary (Carol) Eaton of Bloomington; and three granddaughters: Barbara (Robert) Kerns, Tess and Sydney Connett. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Gnile Connett.
She was a member of the 1957 Deer Creek-Mackinaw High School class and she graduated from Illinois State Normal University. She was a kindergarten teacher for over 37 years in the Olympia School District.
After retiring she volunteered in several areas: PATH, St. Joe Hospital, as a reading listener for Unit 5, Y-Swimmers, Cloverbuds in the Blazing Saddles 4H Club, and as the illustrator for Mackinaw’s 175th Year Cookbook.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, painting, swimming, playing cards, reading, genealogy research, 4H horse shows, and making a photographic record of events.
Her favorite times were always in the company of her family and dogs. Her greatest joy was the time she spent working with children and introducing them to the wonder of books, especially her grandchildren.
She requested a private family memorial service; any condolences can be sent to: The Family of Judy Mason; P.O. Box 175; Mackinaw, IL, 61755.
The family would also like to thank Advocate Bromenn Hospice Care in Normal, IL. Memorials may be made to Advocate at Home; 303 N. Hershey Rd. Suite C; Bloomington, IL 61704.
