Obituary for June Ahten
June Ahten, 82, of Washington formerly of East Peoria, passed away Monday, September 24, 2012, at her home. She was preceded in death by her son, Steve Bolen. Surviving are her husband, Ted; son Joe (Kim) Bolen of East Peoria; daughter Giann (Chuck) Walker of Edelstein; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. June retired from East Peoria Community High School in 1984.  Throughout her life, she was active in a variety of athletics.  After retirement, she took up golf and enjoyed competing in local leagues and tournaments as well as traveling with Ted to play courses throughout the country. She loved planning and hosting family get-togethers and just spending time visiting with her kids and grandkids. Cremation will be accorded. In respect of her wishes, a private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to Methodist Hospice or a charity of your choice.
