Obituary for Katharine Hanson
Katharine H. Hanson, 75, of Marquette Heights, passed away Wednesday, May 4th, 2016, in her home with her family. She was born Sept. 4, 1940, in Dixon, Ill, the daughter of Richard and Genevieve Haley. She married Paul Hanson Dec. 13, 1958 in Sycamore, Ill. He died Jan. 14, 2016. Surviving are their children, Thomas (Dawn Scroggs) Hanson, Donna (Tim Nelson) Hanson-Blackford and William Hanson, all of Marquette Heights, James (LeAnn) Hanson of Dunlap and Paul (Tess) Hanson of Inman, SC. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Susan McDowell, brother-in-law David (Ardith) Hanson all of DeKalb, Ill, her sister-in-law Betty Beighley of Eau Clair, Wis. Preceding her in death were her parents, her sister Ann McDowell, her brothers-in-law Gerald McDowell, Frank Doherty, Frank Beighley & Henry Binder. Kathy was an avid gardener. She enjoyed baking and most of all she enjoyed the holidays. She was a tax preparer at H & R Block for 30 years. Per her wishes, cremation will be accorded and a celebration of her life will be held soon.
