Obituary for Lela Taylor
Lela Evelyn Fuller Taylor, 98 years old, of Morton Illinois passed away on Thursday May 3, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria Illinois. Lela was born on November 15, 1913 in Mattoon Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents Jessie & Iva Fuller, her husband Ray Taylor of 45 years, her sister Louise Quinn, her brothers Paul & James Fuller. Though she never had children of her own Lela was a mother/grandmother to many family members. She provided a safe place for all who came to her in need. Her beliefs, love and spiritual understanding guided everyone she touched. She is survived by Nephews/Nieces Mike & Mary Quinn-Moweaqua IL, Gary & Debbie Fuller-Alpine TN, Connie & Mike Donnelly-Morton IL, Lea & Brian Frost-Montverde FL, Sonia McGee-Mattoon IL, Mary Fuller & Nancy Lewis-Phoenix AZ as well as 55 Great and Great Great Nieces and Nephews. Lela was a member of the Church of the Nazarene located in Mattoon, where she assisted in the nursery and guided many children through their first step in life. She became known to many as “Aunt” Lela, a stead fast anchor in times of sadness and a guide through life’s troubled seas. She retired from Brown Shoe Company after 46 years. Cremation has been accorded and her celebration of life service will be held at the First church of the Nazarene Pekin IL on –Sunday May 6 at 2:00 pm. Open house to follow at the home of Mike & Connie Donnelly 1703 Greenfield Dr, Morton, IL from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
