Obituary for Lester Vogel
Lester E. Vogel, 76, of Pekin passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Hallmark House in Pekin. He was born November 1, 1938 in Manito to Lester J. and Marie Parkin Vogel. He married Lee Ann Lemon August 28, 1959 in Pekin. She survives along with his daughter, Vicki (Herbert) Copeland of Pekin; grandchildren, Jason E. (Carrie) Vogel of Pekin, Jamie Sarnes of Pekin, Matthew Fryman of Pekin, Kristen Schmidt of Peoria; great-grandchildren, Keign Follis, Addyson Sarnes, Zoe Vogel; brothers, Kenneth Vogel of Pekin, David Vogel of Glasford, John (Diane) Vogel of Pekin; sisters, Patricia Grady of Indiana, Mary (Terry) Vogel of Peoria and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Annette Rankin and daughters, Betty Schmidt and Tracey Vogel. Lester loved being a lineman and most of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where a funeral mass will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 10 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior at the church. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Burial will follow the service at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society in his name.
