Obituary for Linda Cox
Linda Sue Cox, 73, of Pekin, IL passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria, IL. She was born December 15, 1941 in Pekin to Howard and Wanda Weber Rohrs. She married Kenneth Cox February 7, 1987 in Pekin; he preceded her in death September 25, 1998 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother. She is survived by her son, Michael (Melody) Bilyeu of Stockton, MO; daughters, Jade (Shawn) Nichols of Thermopolis, WY, Kelley (Geoff) Landers of Conifer, CO; step-son, Sean (Gill) Cox of Henderson, NV; step-daughter, Kelly Cox of Evergreen Park, IL; step-son, Kevin (Amy) Cox of Killeen, TX; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Rob Rohrs of San Jose, IL; sister, Sandra (Gene) Lutz of Pekin, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. Linda played organ for the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Manito, IL and owned and operated the Manito Tap for many years. She worked for Caterpillar and later worked for the E.P.A. in Illinois, retiring December 31, 2002. She volunteered as a secretary for the Pekin V.F.W. and was the Grand Marshall of the Manito Popcorn Festival Parade one year in honor of her being one of the founding members of the festival. She was an active and founding member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin, where she was an usher, taught Sunday School, worked funeral luncheons, delivered flowers to shut-ins and was the past president and secretary of the Concordia Society. She sang with the Miller Melodies and Sweet Adelines. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial visitation will be held Friday, August 28, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with a memorial service Saturday, August 29 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be held at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude or TAPS in her name.
