Obituary for Lois E. Eertmoed
Lois E. Eertmoed, born November 22, 1923 in Pontiac, IL to Joseph W. and Margaret E. Scogin. Lois died October 30, 2021 in Pekin, IL. She married Harry W. Eertmoed September 15, 1946 in Pekin, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her parents; brother, Kenneth Scogin and son-in-law, Alan Ward.

Surviving are her two children, Thomas G. (Suzanne) Eertmoed of Peoria, IL and Christie L. Ward of Pekin, IL; one grandson, Ronald A. (Anne) Eertmoed of Peoria, IL and great grandsons, Matheu and Tyler Eertmoed.

She has been a faithful member of Second Reformed Church until it’s closing, and Grace United Methodist Church. Active in Loyal Daughters, Mary Martha Circle, and choir at Second Reformed Church, also a member of Church Women United in Pekin, and many other volunteer activities.

Lois has been a seamstress all of her life, working for Pekin Venetian Blind, Toggery, and out of her home. She did both men’s and women’s alterations, slipcovers, bedspreads, drapes, and about anything that was brought to her. She also worked for Great Central Insurance and Abel Vault and Monument Co. Needing to keep her hands busy, she knitted baby hats for the hospital newborns. She was on several women’s bowling leagues for many years at Blue Island, Rosewoods, and Roxy’s.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Cedarhurst of Pekin (formerly Morningside of Pekin) for their loving care and Transitions Hospice Care for their support.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Grace United Methodist Church, 601 N 4th St, Pekin, IL 61554. Pastor Eric Swanson will officiate. Visitation will be before the service starting at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
