Obituary for Loren E. Noel
Loren E. Noel 84, of South Pekin passed away on Tuesday February 10, 2009 at Pekin Hospital. He was born in Lexington, IL on June 14, 1924 to Gordon and Carrie Hinthorn Noel. He married Helen Helms in Pekin on August 20, 1946 , she survives along with his son Jon Noel of Pekin, grandson Scott Noel of Denver, CO and his sister Violet Elkin of Chatham. His parents, son Larry, 2 brothers and 1 sister preceded him in death. Loren was a Army veteran, serving during the Korean War and was an Operating Engineer with Local 649 and worked for Joe Shallenberger for 20 years, retiring in June of 1986. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #2691, Pekin Moose Lodge #916, V.F.W. Post #1232 and the Pekin Masonic Lodge #29. He loved bowling, fishing and gardening. Cremation has been accorded and burial of cremains and Military Rites will be held at a later date at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
