Obituary for Lucille Mary Harper
Lucille Mary (Bishop) Harper, 86, of Canton formerly of Bartonville, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 12:44 pm at Heartland Health Care in Canton, IL. Born October 8, 1930, in Milledgeville, TN to Author C. Bishop and Jennie A. (Pearson) Bishop. On November 12, 1954, she married Elbert Douglas Harper, Jr. He passed November 30, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Rose Mary (Harper) Blackford, of East Peoria, her brothers Cecil, Virgil, Lonnie, and Vester “Beck”, and her sisters Adell (Bishop) Williams and Vesta Bishop all of TN, and three son-in-law’s Jerry Blackford, Dale Berry and Jim Parker.

Lucy is survived by her 4 daughters Mary Claudette (Cunningham) Foster, Linda (Cunningham) Berry, both of Canton, Phyllis (Cunningham) Parker of Peoria, and Sandi (Harper) Beck of Hanna City, 2 sons Mike (Patty) Harper of Mapleton, and Mark Harper of West Peoria, one brother Troy Bishop of MI, and one sister Maggie (Bishop) Hart of TN, numerous nieces and nephews, 12 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Lucy loved to fish and cook. She was an incredibly talented seamstress. She spent her career in the restaurant business, mostly at the original Fulton St Steakhouse downtown Peoria, the original Sky Harbor, and Uncle Al’s Steakhouse in Sunnyland. Lucy and Jr loved to play cards and get together with family and friends. Per her request, there will be no visitation or funeral ceremony. A private celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
