Obituary for Lynne Simpson
Lynne Simpson, 69, of Peoria, IL passed away at 2:50 pm Friday, March 14, 2014 at Lutheran Hillside Village, after a five year battle with Multi Myeloma. She was born on February 21, 1945 in Peoria, IL. The daughter of Raphael and Ruby (Turner) Wilson. She married Thomas L. Simpson on April 6, 1963 in Pontiac, IL. He survives along with one brother, Kent (Brenda) Wilson of Tucson, AZ; one daughter, Cynthia (Bryan) Severs of Potomac, IL; one son, Christopher (Robin) Simpson of Peoria, IL, and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sue Mayer and one grandson. Lynne grew up in Dunlap, IL where she graduated from Dunlap High and attended Bradley University. Lynne was a member of First Federated Church of Peoria where she was active and served on the board. She was a sustainer of the Junior League of Peoria, a former Girl Scout Leader, and a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. She enjoyed her cats, traveling, knitting, stitching, sewing, reading, scuba diving, snow skiing, and sitting in the sun. She was an avid sports car racing and football fan, and also loved flower gardening. Above all she made her family her life’s work. The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to the staff of Lutheran Hillside Village. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 28, 2014 at 10:30 am at the First Federated Church in Peoria, IL with visitation one hour prior at the church. Visitation will also be held Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Federated Church of Peoria, IL or a charity of the donor’s choice.
