Obituary for M. Marjorie Parish
M. Marjorie Parish 86, of Pekin passed away on Sunday June 15, at Pekin Hospital. Born in Peoria on Dec 2, 1921 to John and Anna Dallas Anderson. She married Robert A. Parish on Jan 25, 1947, he preceded her in death on their anniversary in 1995. Also preceded by her brother, 3 sisters and daughter-in-law Sharon Parish. Marjorie is survived by her children; Christine (Robert) Burch of Pekin, Mark Parish of Strongsville, OH, Daniel (Carol) Parish of Brookville, OH, grandchildren; Cori Parker, Joshua Burch, Zachary, Benjamin, Robert and Melissa Parish and great grandchildren; Tia, Treyton and Tyra Parker. Marjorie graduated from PCHS in 1939 as a member of the National Honor Society. She worked as a Bookkeeper for Soldwedel Dairy for 10 years and then received her Associate Degree from the University of Florida in Dietary Services and was an Assistant Dietitian at Pekin Hospital for 15 years, retiring in 1989. She then served as an Election Judge and was a teacher in the Literacy Program at the YWCA. She grew up in the Christian Science faith and later joined St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and always followed her children and grandchildren’s sports. A funeral service will be held at Abts Mortuary on Thursday June 19, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dwight Borden will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale memorial gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
