Obituary for Margaret Paulson
Margaret Ann Mann Paulson, age 96, of Peoria, Illinois formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Hoopeston, Illinois, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. She was born March 2, 1918, in Hoopeston, Illinois to George Earl Mann and Nelle Elizabeth Brobeck. She married Mark Clements Paulson on June 18, 1940 in Champaign, Illinois. He passed away On May 13, 2000, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Survivors include one son, Mark Alexander Paulson of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; one daughter, Sara Mann Paulson Knapp of Pekin, Illinois; four grandchildren, Nicholas Mark Knapp of East Peoria, Illinois, Derek Carl Knapp of Peoria, Illinois, Jennifer Lynn Alexander of Chicago, Illinois, and Heather Marie Paulson of St. Paul, Minnesota. She was the last surviving member of her family. Preceding her in death were sisters, Josephine Elizabeth and Elizabeth Louise of Bloomington, Illinois, Barbara Jean of San Antonio, Texas, and George Earl Mann II of Nebraska City, Nebraska. Also preceding in death, Miriam Jane in childhood in Hoopeston, Illinois. Margaret was of the Presbyterian faith. She taught elementary school in Peoria at Franklin Elementary School (1953-1965), and Fox Chapel, Pennsylvania (1965 -1980). In 2007 she moved back to Peoria to the Proctor Endowment Home, where she could be closer to her daughter, Sara, and some of her long-time Peoria friends. Cremation has been accorded and private family services will be held. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice in her name.
