Obituary for Margaret R. Grapperhaus

Margaret R. Grapperhaus, 84, of Pekin, IL passed away Friday, June 7, 2024, at her residence.


She was born June 10, 1939, in Bresse, IL to Theodore and Clara Koerkenmeier Elling. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Hill; parents; brothers, James (Ruth) Elling, Ervin (Shirley) Elling, Raymond (Doris) Elling; sister, Dorothy Cunningham and brother-in-law, Val Theising.


She married Lawrence H. Grapperhaus on October 03, 1959, in Carlyle, IL; he survives. She is also survived by her children, Christie (Jon) Hill, Cindy Tosi, Carrie Schramm, Connie (Shawn) Mason; grandchildren, Nick (Angie) Berry, Samantha Berry, Cameron Hill, Colton (Jensen) Mason, Reno Mason, Blaze (fiancée, Lexi Petersen) Schramm, Trenten Mason; great-grandchildren, Chase Collins, Colby Berry, Harper Berry; sister, Irene Theising and brother-in-law, Joe Cunningham.


Margaret worked for Caterpillar.


She loved crocheting, sewing and watching her grandchildren play sports. Margaret was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was very active in her church and community.


Margaret was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where a Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. to 10 45 a.m. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Inurnment will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin at a later date.


Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School in her name.
