She was born on Jan. 10, 1936 in Peoria, IL to Rudolph H. and Viola (Snedden) Smith. She married DeWayne (Swede) C. Gailliaert on Jan. 16, 1954 in Bartonville. They were married for 53 years. She is survived by her twin sister Darlene (Isaac) Stamps, siblings Iola (Ronald) Emery, Robert Smith, Marilyn (Richard) Welton, Sister-in-law Carol Smith, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, one niece and two great nephews. She worked at numerous cleaners as a presser for over 50 years. Besides working, she spent time at athletic events and races with her husband Swede. As she got older, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She had a very special relationship with her niece Tammy and husband Jim, along with her great nephews Drew and Shawnie. Her sweetest joy was watching Drew grow up and become a firefighter and having a family. She had started taking him to the firehouse (Station 4) as a child. She loved Drew’s wife Christie and their three girls Lexi, Kylee and Tana as well as Shawnie and his fiancé Myjken. The family would like to thank Heddington Oaks Nursing staff as well as Hospice for their tender care. Per Marlene’s wishes there will be no formal services. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Memorial donations can be made to the Bartonville Fire Department.
