Obituary for Martha Burke
Martha M. (Couri) Burke, 96, of Chillicothe formerly of Peoria, died peacefully on November 16, 2015, at Heritage Health in Chillicothe. Born September 22, 1919 in Peoria, a daughter of Edward and Anna Couri, she married William J. Burke February 25, 1952 in Peoria. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Robert Burke, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two sons, William (Jennifer) of Peoria, and James (Johnathan) of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren, Eric of Peoria and Ben (Katie) of St. Louis, and one great-granddaughter, Lincoln. Martha was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, loved to laugh and lived to care for her family and others. In her later years, as a resident of Heritage Health, she would be known to sing and dance on a whim at their various musical activities. Martha was a graduate of the Academy of Our Lady and a member of Holy Family Church and the Itoo Society. Cremation rites have been accorded. Services will be private with burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Peoria. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Health for many years of loving care by asking that memorial contributions be made to their Activities Department at 1028 W. Hillcrest Drive, Chillicothe, IL 61523.
