Obituary for Marvin Taylor

Marvin D. Taylor 84, of Pekin passed away Monday June 28, 2010 at Pekin Manor. He was born December 28, 1925 to Raleigh and Opal Wright Taylor in Waltonville, IL. He married Margaret Maloney April 30, 1946 in Bartonville. She preceded him in death on September 19, 2007 he was also preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Hollis Plemons. He is survived by his 3 daughters; Jan Plemons of N. Pekin, Karleen (William) Rogers of St. Peters, MO, Gertrude Heller of Zell, Germany, 3 sons; Rick Taylor of Springfield, Jack (Karen) Taylor of Pekin, Ronald of CA, sister; Freda Thompson of Elcajon, CA, and aunt; Evelyn Brown of Kirkwood, MO. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. Marvin was in the US Army serving in WWII. He served with the 1

Armored Division in Okinawa and Germany. He was a weather equipment operator and field artillery specialist. He worked for Keystone Steel and Wire Co. as a foreman for the nail mill retiring in August 1979. He was a member of the McArthur Drive Baptist Church in N. Pekin, American Legion of Pekin, Treasurer of his church for 20 years, and Election Judge at Edison Jr. High for 10 years. Marvin was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and he was affectionately known as “Mr. T.” by everyone at Schnucks. Cremation has been accorded and a Memorial Service will be held Thursday July 1, 2010 at 5pm at his church with a visitation 1 hour prior with Rev. Bobby Barnhill officiating. A private burial will take place in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.  Memorials may be made to his Church.
