Obituary for Mary Ackerman
Mary Louise Ackerman was born November 13, 1915 in Dawson Illinois, the daughter of Earl Byron and Ethel Matthews Heiss. She passed on peacefully in her home in Peoria on February 5
th
. She graduated from Springfield High School, Springfield, IL; she was also a graduate of Brown’s Business College, Springfield, IL. Louise was employed a number of years by The Employers Group Insurance Company of Boston. She married Herschel H. Ackerman on July 11, 1936. He preceded her in death on August 9, 1972.
Louise is survived by one son, Van H. Ackerman (Shirley) of Peoria, IL and one daughter Suzanne L Gray (Jonathan Gray) of Indianapolis, IN. She is also survived by two grandsons, Charles J. Gray (Sara Parker-Gray) of Fredericksburg, VA, Christopher R. Ackerman of Peoria, IL and one granddaughter, Kathleen E. Ackerman of Peoria, IL.
She was a member of First Federated Church of Peoria for over 60 years. Louise served as Deacon, Church Council Member, taught Sunday school and was active on various committees. In later years she volunteered at the church office. In compliance with her request there will be no memorial service or visitation.  Cremation has been accorded. Private family burial rites will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, IL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Salvation Army or St. Judes Children’s Hospital. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
