Mary Ann “Mamoo” Johnson was born on July 13, 1947 in Chicago, IL, to the late Aldin and Carolyn Crosswhite. Mary Ann attended Word of Faith Christian Center Church when she was in better health. She departed this world with her family by her side.
Mary Ann attended Lincoln Academy in Kentucky where she graduated and went on to Wilberforce College in Ohio.
Mary Ann always had a caring personality. She kept her doors, arms, and heart open for many. Once welcomed into her life, you were considered a part of her family.
Mamoo enjoyed spending time with her family playing cards and various board games.
Mary Ann Johnson, 74, transitioned into her forever home January 2, 2022. She leaves to cherish her most precious memories two daughters, Antoinette “Toto” Gaines, Angel “Ladybug” Johnson; four grandchildren, Isheeka “Pooh” Jones, Michaela “Lady Jaws” Moore, Prince “BB” Etherly, Anias Robinson; a special niece, Nekia “Motor Mouth” Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Josiah “Little Man” Cathing, Elias “Baby Jawz” Davis, Micah “Tiny” Moore, Ilacori “Queen” Abner; two living siblings, Gregory Crosswhite, Pearl “Polly Ann” Johnson; god son, Alcattio “Tink” Terrell, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Word of Faith Christian Center Church 7116 N. Terra Vista Drive, Peoria, IL 61614. Bishop Leroy Davis will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following the service.
