Obituary for Mary Jane Abel
Mary Jane Abel, 99, of Pekin passed away Monday, December 26, 2022, at her residence.
She was born March 30, 1923, in Pekin to Louis Carl and Lorraine Pamson Aimone.
She married John Edward Abel November 11, 1948, in Pekin; he preceded her in death May 6, 2009. Her parents; sister, Lorraine Ercegovich; brothers, Bruno Aimone, Louis Aimone, Marion “Bud” Aimone and two infant brothers, Louis Carl Aimone and John Aimone preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria Dena (Stephen) Rankin and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Mary Jane graduated from Pekin Community High School and had many years of service as a telephone operator for Centel.
She loved her family very much. She also loved cooking, reading, knitting, crocheting and her pets.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where a funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Catholic School or TAPS in her name.
