Obituary for Mary (Mimi) Truitt
Mary Lee (Mimi) Turner Truitt  of 1314 Hillside Dr., Peoria, passed away on November 23rd, 2011 at 4:08pm at home. Born May 27, 1927 to Mary and Clifton Turner in Peoria, IL. She married Robert Truitt on April 12, 1950 and they lived in Chillicothe for 52 years. On January 31, 2007 he preceded her in death as did one grandchild, Matthew Phillip Regan. Mimi is survived by three children, Turner (wife Margaret) Truitt of Atlanta, GA, Rebecca (husband Randy) Regan of Loomis, CA, and Amy (husband Alan) Huggins of Vashon Island, WA, and five grandchildren: Andrew and Peter Truitt, Anne and Christian Regan and Leigh Huggins. Mimi attended Lindenwood College and graduated from the University of Illinois. Mrs. Truitt was a member of the Junior League of Peoria, Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, the Country Club of Peoria, Hideaway Beach Club on Marco Island, FL, University Club of Chillicothe and As You Like It in Peoria. She served on the boards of Proctor Hospital, Youth Farm, Crittenden Home, Fine Arts Society and St. Francis Church of Chillicothe. Mrs. Truitt was a member of St. Paul’s Cathedral in Peoria where memorial services will be held on Tuesday, November 29th at 2pm. Cremation will be accorded and private interment services will be in the Chillicothe cemetery. A reception will be held in the church Fellowship Hall following the ceremony. There will be no prior visitation or receiving line. Contributions in her memory can be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or Hillside Village Foundation, or to a charity of your choice.
