Obituary for Mary Whelan
Mary R. Whelan, 85, of Washington formerly of Peoria Heights passed away August 5, 2016 at Washington Christian Village. She was born May 28, 1931 in Peoria to Reginald and Bertha Nader Blackmore. She married Robert Whelan October 14, 1950 in Kickapoo; he preceded her in death June 17, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Louella Reynolds. She is survived by her sons, Michael Whelan of Peoria Heights, Robert (Vicki Hamilton) Whelan of Peoria, Dan (Ellen) Whelan of Manito; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and sisters, Etta Hook of Annandale, VA and Eileen Heinz of Dunlap. Mary worked for Culvers in Peoria. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held Sunday, August 14th at 10:30 a.m. at Washington Supportive Living. Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice or the church in her name.
