Obituary for Melba R. Rowan
Melba R. Rowan, 88, of Pekin passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at Pekin Hospital. She was born November 20, 1927 to Clarence and Elsie Lee Coons. She married Charles A. Rowan October 13, 1946 in Pekin; he survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Jill (Kelly) Vick; son, Philip (Mary Lynn) Rowan; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Marion Phillips and two brothers. Melba and Charles helped build the first TAPS shelter. She worked for Pekin Insurance and Monge Crouch & Mahoney, Inc. She was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Pekin. Per her wishes cremation has been accorded and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the church in her name
