Obituary for Melvin R Waters
Melvin R. Waters 78, of Peoria passed away on Monday 27, 2015 at OSF St Frances medical center in Peoria. Born in Peoria to Melvin Waters and Lenore "Geraldine" Gomez on May 7, 1937. He married Darlene Prechel in Creve Coeur on June 13, 1959, she survives. Also surviving are his children; Angela (Phillip) Houtz of West Lafayette, IN, Sharon (Martin) Millburg of Tampa, FL, Diane (Christopher) Sellin of Morris Plains, NJ, grandchildren; Aaron, Monica, Jeff, Eric, Cara, Kevin, Nathan and Joshua, great grandchild Jacoby and his nieces and nephews; David, Daniel, Marie, Brittany, Tiffany, Chad, Dustin, Alan, Amy, Kate, Ed, Chris and Robert. His parents and half brothers John and David Lakin preceded him in death. Melvin served in the Marine Corp, was a member of the Peoria Convention and Visitors Bureau, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Westminster Food Pantry, worked 17 years at Keystone Steel and Wire and WABCO, former member of Peoria JC’s, owned Mel Waters Photographic Services Co. He enjoyed Reading, Nature, Poetry, Music and making people smile every day. He also was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Peoria where a funeral mass will be held on Saturday August 1, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Fr. Horton will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following his service. Memorials may be made in his name at semperfifund.org. or the American Diabetes Association
