Obituary for Michael Patrick O'Hara
Michael Patrick O’Hara, 75, of Pekin passed away Monday, July 12, 2021, at UnityPoint Health Pekin.
He was born March 16, 1946, in Pekin to Raymond W. and Elizabeth Coombs O’Hara. His parents and brother, Louis O’Hara preceded him in death.
He married Christine M. Albrecht May 26, 1973; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Heather (Peter Michael III) Ferro, Erin (Michael) Rakey and grandchildren, Benjamin Ferro, Cooper Ferro, Zoey Hutchison, Harlee Watson and Benjamin Hofer.
Michael graduated from Forman High School in Manito. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a Union Carpenter for Local 644 retiring in 1995.
Michael was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. He was the first male Girl Scout leader in Central Illinois. He enjoyed taxidermy, fishing and collecting North American artifacts. He also enjoyed two step country dancing and banjo music. Michael was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Abts Mortuary in Pekin. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Deacon Ernie Whited will officiate.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School or TAPS in his name. The family kindly asks for no flowers.
