Obituary for Michael Zeglen
Michael P. Zeglen, 60, of Anchorage, AK passed away on Friday, November 9, 2012 in Farmington, IL surrounded by his family. He was born May 15, 1952 to Adolph and Marie (Gnyla) Zeglen Sr. Mike is survived by his daughter, Leslie (Chad) Gavelys of Yates City, IL and his son, Christopher Zeglen of Anchorage, AK. He has 3 grandchildren. Also surviving are 3 brothers, Adolph Zeglen, Jr. of Farmington, IL, Thomas Zeglen of Norris, IL, John (Carol) Zeglen of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and 2 sisters, Helen (John) Voorhees of Canton, IL and Cynthia (James) Schreiner of Farmington, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Loretta and Debra and 1 brother, Rudolph. Mike went to school in Farmington and graduated in 1970. He worked for American Distillery in Pekin, IL, Kraft Foods in Dover, DE and later moved to Alaska in 1999 where he worked for North Star Hospital and later Brooks and Associates. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and HAM radios. He waged an 8 month battle with cancer before finding eternal peace. In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 11am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elmwood, IL. A visitation will be one hour before the mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alaska Conservation Foundation or OSF Hospice.
