Obituary for Mildred L. Johns
Mildred L. Johns 88, of Lewistown passed away on Sunday December 28, 2008 at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born in Table Grove, IL on February 9, 1920 to Moreland and Beulah Murphy Ames. She married Clell Johns in Davenport, IA on October 15, 1938, he preceded her in death in 1991. She is also preceded in death by her daughter; Nancy Johns and Ruth Atchley and brothers; George and Russell Ames. Mildred is survived by her son Larry (Laura) Johns of Barefoot Bay, FL, daughter Carol Edwards of Grand Bay, AL, sister Betty Frank of Peoria, brother Wendell Thompson of Seattle, WA grandchildren; Jeff Johns, Angie Andrews, Brian Dailey, Jennifer Jones, Amber Burgess and Alicia Webster. Her 12 great grandchildren also survive. She was the owner and manager of Churchill Hotel in Canton from 1961 to 1984 and worked at the Clayburg Nursing Home in Cuba from 1992 to 1998, retiring in 1998. She was a member of Bluff City International Church in Bluff City, IL. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in her name to Bluff City International Church. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. is assisting the family with arrangements.
