Obituary for Nancy Heidewald
Nancy Lee Alice Van Bruwaene Heidewald, 79, of Peoria peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at home with her family by her side. She was born August 29, 1935, in Peoria to Remi and Mary (Saelens) Van Bruwaene. She married Charles E. Heidewald in Peoria, IL, on July 30, 1955. Surviving are their five children, Catherine (Rob) Edmundson of Edwards, Claire Putman of Germantown Hills, Christine (Dennis) Sluder, of Gilbert, AZ, Paul (Deborah) Heidewald, of Morton, Charlene (Keith) Wagner, of Princeville: 14 grandchildren and six step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Raymond and Connie Van Bruwaene of Mercer Island, WA, and Richard Van Bruwaene of Washington, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, in January 2014. Nancy will be most remembered by her love of family gatherings, cooking, decorating, and gardening. In respect to her wishes, a private gathering for immediate family members will be held in lieu of services. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
