Obituary for Niccolo Gian Alesandrini

Niccolo Gian Alesandrini was born in Zanesville, Ohio on December 12, 1994 to Gene and Joyce Alesandrini. He died on April 19, 2021.

From an early age, Nic loved the spotlight and used it to charm and connect with people. He harnessed his talents for music and humor, and was great fun on stage. A few family favorite theatre roles were Eddie Flagrante in Zombie Prom with Theatre Zanesville, Gaston in Beauty and the Beast at John Glenn High School, and Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie at Muskingum University. Nic frequented open mic nights and played bass in the bands Basement Dwellers and Minor Setback. He loved so many kinds of music, and his renditions of Rainbow Connection, Mr. Bojangles, and Murder in the City were especially cherished at family gatherings.

Nic was a fierce and empathetic advocate for social justice, and he cared deeply for animals. To honor this affection and the many pets who enriched his life, we invite friends and family to donate to their local animal shelter in Nic’s name.

He is remembered for his biting wit and generosity of self, especially when others were hurting. In support of a struggling friend, he shared the following: “People are counting on you to keep making their lives richer with your existence, the way you’re counting on others to keep enriching your life with their existence. That’s all living is about, and everything else is based in socioeconomic trends, Christianity, toxic masculinity, and materialism.”

Nic was survived by his parents, siblings Annie, Geno, Dominic, and Emily, and grandmothers Ellen and Ruth. He was preceded in death by his brother Jacob and his grandfathers Gene and Wayne. He inspired vulnerability and gumption, and remains loved as a brother, son, and friend.

A community gathering celebrating the lives of Nic and Gene will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Pekin Park Pavilion on the Lagoon in Mineral Springs Park. Doors will be open from 1:30 to 4:30, including a memorial service from 2:00 to 3:00.

The family has entrusted Abts Mortuary in Pekin with his arrangements. Online condolences may be made at abtsmortuary.com
