Obituary for Oscar Oglesby
Oscar Edward Oglesby, 90, of Washington, IL passed away at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born in Peoria on March 3, 1926 to Oscar Edward Oglesby and Susan Elizabeth Ann (Strother).
He married Shelby Jean “Bobo” on December 14, 1963; she preceded him in death, along with his son-in-law, Earl Leo McCart.
Surviving are two children, Allan (Laurie) Oglesby of Spring Bay, IL, Susan McCart of Pekin, IL; two grandsons, Dustin McCart and Andrew McCart both of Pekin, IL; granddaughter, Jenni (Ryan) Bennett of Peoria, IL and many friends at Leisure Acres Senior Retirement Community in Washington where he also lived prior to his illness.
He last worked at Uftring Chevy in Washington until retiring in 2003.
Oscar was a one of a kind man, the mold was broken when he arrived in this world. The man never met a stranger. His sense of humor was surpassed only by his sarcasm. He has always been thought of as a “jack of all trades”, then he would say “master of none”.
Cremation has been accorded and burial beside his beloved Shelby at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Peoria will be held at a later date.
