Obituary for Parker Jero
John Parker Jero, 88, of Washington, Illinois went home to be with the Lord on September 11, 2012.  He passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home.  Parker, as he was known, was born March 14, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to Frank Jero and Hazel (Webb) Jero.  He married Rosemary Elizabeth Gage on August 10, 1946 in New Haven, Connecticut.  She passed away on August 11, 1995. Surviving are two daughters and one son, Chris (Jerry) Duckworth of Washington, Karen (Bob) Snyder of Germantown Hills and Paul (Susan) Jero of Xenia, Ohio.  He is also survived by eight grandsons and ten great grandchildren and by his brother Bob Jero of California.  He was preceded in death by his parents. Parker served in the United States Army Air Force from 1943 to 1945 as a flight navigator.  Following the war he graduated from the University of Illinois and worked for Caterpillar for 35 years, retiring in 1985.  He worked in the newly formed research engineering department and had 10 patents in his name.  Before and after retiring he worked part time in his own heating and air conditioning business: Jero Refrigeration.  He also enjoyed gardening and wood working. Parker was a member of Grace Bible Church in Washington where he served as treasurer for many years.  Services will be on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at his church.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral, also at his church.  Rev. Adam Kipp will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Bible Church Missions Fund.
