Obituary for Patsy Russell
Patsy L. Russell, 83, of Peoria, IL born August 22, 1932 in Pekin, Illinois, passed away February 26, 2016 at 8:08 a.m. at Heddington Oaks Nursing Home in Peoria, Illinois. Spirited, feisty, loving and compassionate, Pat had a kind heart and she lived for her children and grandchildren. She married Willard Russell Sr., in Louisiana in 1953. He proceeded her in death in 2009. Patsy enjoyed several years as a fulltime mother, then worked over 17 years as a CNA at Lindenwood Nursing Home before retiring in 1996. She served in many areas of the ministry from AWANA’s, vacation Bible school, and as a Sunday school teacher. As Patsy was passionate about her faith in Jesus Christ, she was also very passionate about plants. She was always known to have several starter plants going, and would often ask neighbors for small pieces of plants to start new pots. She enjoyed playing cards, Wahoo, Yahtzee, and many other board games. Patsy felt that being with her family was the best way to spend her time. Patsy was proud of her children which includes three daughters, Peggy Ann Crain, a missionary in China, Nancy Lynn (Ben) Polhans of Pekin and Becky Sue Wood of Peoria; two sons, Willard A. “Rusty” Russell, Jr. (Diane) and Edwin Neal Russell both of Peoria; eight Grandchildren, and ten Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother. A service will be held on Thursday, March 3, at 11:00 AM at Richwood’s Community Church on Knoxville Avenue with Pastor Marty Hunt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Heddington Oaks Social Activities Department or KOMEN PEORIA MEMORIAL RACE FOR THE CURE®.
