Obituary for Phyllis Johnstone
Phyllis A. Johnstone, 80, of East Peoria passed away Saturday December 3, 2011 at her residence. She was born July 6, 1931 in Mode, IL to Davis and Mary Lewis Huffer. She married William Johnstone in Bakersfield, CA, he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, step-father, George Fuhrman, one great-grandson and one brother, Dale Huffer. She is survived by her children, William Davis Johnstone of Peoria, Laura (Tony) Ledbetter of Low Point, Kevin Scott (Linda) Johnstone of East Peoria and Tamera (Scott) Rasmussen of Creve Coeur. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Dustin, Derrick, Jennifer, Theresa, Erica; five great-grandchildren; brother, Dwight (Virginia) Huffer of Longmont, CO; sister-in-laws, RuthAnn Johnstone, Connie Huffer; niece, Elisa and cousin, Francis Romack of Decatur. Phyllis worked as a telephone operator, real estate agent and bus driver for District 150. She flew a solo flight and received her pilots license. The grandchildren always enjoyed her special sugar cookies. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother. The family would like to give Methodist Hospice a very special thanks. Cremation has been accorded and a private family service will be held. Memorials may be made to Methodist Hospice or the family in her name.
