Obituary for Raymond F. Martens
Raymond F. Martens, 95, of Pekin, IL passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023, at his residence.
He was born June 29, 1927, in Hartwick, IA to Peter and Mary DeMeulenaere Martens. His parents and brother, Richard Martens preceded him in death.
He married Earlene P. Everett June 4, 1960, in Peoria, IL; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Rene (Mark) Silotto, Michael R. (fiancée, Christine Rodriguez) Martens; grandchildren, Christopher (Cathy) Silotto, Allison Martens, Derek Martens and great-grandchildren, Morghan Silotto and Carlee Silotto.
Raymond graduated from Hartwick High School. He served in the U.S. Army and worked for P & PU Railroad retiring in 1984.
He enjoyed gardening and was a Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He was a member of the P & PU retired Breakfast Club. Raymond was proud of his Belgian heritage. His grandparents and mother immigrated from Belgium.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, IL where a funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Private burial will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in his name.
