Obituary for Richard Earl Murphy
The good life on earth of Richard E. Murphy, son of Virginia (Rorer/Murphy) Scott and Spencer Murphy, ended Wednesday morning, December 17, 2008.

A heart, as kindly as ever beat in a human breast, is stilled. A hand, that assured and comforted and bestowed through the brief years of welcome opportunity, has ceased its gentle, generous, untiring helpfulness. A mind, keen in discernment, incapable of ignoble thought, humorous, social, and honorable, has ceased its abundant and visual activities. A soul, serene in its unconscious nobility, sweet, lofty, and infinitely sensitive, has entered the beyond, which it contemplated with happy composure. He is greatly loved by many and will be greatly missed. Murph regrettably leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Gayla Murphy of Ipava; two loving daughters, Laura Powell and Melinda Welker, both of Canton; three loving sons, Richard Shaw of Florida, David Murphy of Columbus, Ohio, and Richard Murphy of Burlington, Iowa; one adoring sister, Sandy Sandefur of Canton; and two loving brothers, Gary Scott and Tim Scott, both of Canton; as well as 28 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. There is an Irish Wake planned for 1 p.m. Memorial Day (May 25, 2009) at the Wallace Park pavilion for all who loved him. The family asks that you please bring pictures if you have them, and plenty of memories to share. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria
