Obituary for Richard Falatka
Richard K. Falatka 85, of Peoria passed away on Wednesday November 25, 2009 at his residence. Born in Cleveland, OH to George and Gerdina Garrels Falatko on July 14, 1924. He married Kathryn Johnson in Peoria on November 2, 1968, she survives. Also surviving are his daughter Dorothy “Dottie” (David) Askew, grandchildren: Noah and Markie Christian all of Peoria, sisters: Marian Miller, Trudy (Dave) Weigel and Shirley Deeter all of Peoria, Patricia (Bill) Kessler of Marquette Heights and his brother Jack (Georgia) Falatko of NE. His parents, 2 brothers, an infant sister and a grandson preceded him in death. Richard worked for the Post Office and later worked for District 150 as Head Custodian at Harrison Primary School, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Eagles in Peoria and loved and adored his grandchildren. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday December 1, at 11 a.m. at St. Sharbel Community Center with a luncheon to follow. Pastor James Betterman will officiate and private graveside services will be held. Memorials may be made in his name to OSF Hospice. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
