Obituary for Rita Davis
Rita J. Davis, 93, of Pekin, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Amy’s Country Manor in Pekin on Thursday, May 7, 2015. She was born March 2, 1922 in Danville, IL to Joseph H. and Helen Foehrer Ritschel. She married Eugene J. Davis April 26, 1947 in Peoria, IL; he preceded her in death July 7, 1960. She was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Rosemary Jordan, Robert Ritschel, Loretta Ginther, Victoria Bargen, Phillip Ritschel, Helen Ann Ritschel, Marcellus Ritschel, Joseph Ritschel and Gilbert Ritschel. She is survived by her children, Sandra Davis Waterhouse of Morton Grove, IL, Linda S. Davis of Houston, TX and Denny A. Davis of Marquette Heights, IL. Rita was a resident at the manor for over seven years becoming one of their most loved and valued “family” members. She was always quick with a smile and a friendly word for everyone. She never met a stranger. She will be missed and not forgotten. A long-time citizen of Pekin she worked for several years as a caring companion/aid for the ill and elderly. Her husband was an original partner of Davis Bros. Tap in East Peoria, IL which became famous for their pizza. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where a memorial mass will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 10 a.m. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Church or the American Legion Auxiliary in her name.
