Obituary for Robert A. Switzer
Robert A. Switzer 82, of Edwards passed away on Saturday August 8, 2009 at Liberty Village Manor Court in Peoria. Born in Holmesville, NE on September 15, 1926 to Norvel and Elnora Barringer Switzer. He married Darlene M. Ostrander in Holmesville on November 7, 1947. She survives along with his children; Kip (Peggy) Switzer and Jerri (Charles) Varnold both of Peoria, N. Dean Switzer of Edwards, Leslie (Jerry) Lewis of Good Hope, sisters; Mildred McKenzie of Greeley, CO, Myra Willett of Novato, CA, Valera Harris of Brendenridge, MO, Virginia Larsen of Beactrice, NE, grandchildren; Aaron Varnold, Joel Lewis, Bob Switzer, Sadie Switzer and his two great grandchildren. His parents, three sisters and granddaughter Brook preceded him in death. Robert served in the Navy and graduated from Iowa State College with a Agricultural degree. He worked as a Service Engineer at Caterpillar for 33 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Peoria Horseshoe Club, Caterpillar Senior Golf League, was a member of a bowling league, computer club and a member of First Federated Church in Peoria where a memorial service will be held on Thursday August 20, at 2 p.m. Rev. Richard Springsteen and Rev. Daren Hofmann will officiate. Fellowship will follow the service at the church. Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice or His church. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
