Obituary for Robert Babcock
Robert David Babcock, 86, of Peoria passed away Saturday September 15, 2012 at Rosewood Nursing Home in Peoria. He was born on January 28, 1926 in Aurora, IL to J.H. and Jeanette Dunlop Babcock. He married Virginia Dean of Aurora on June 26th, 1948. She preceded him in death on November 10, 2007. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Hemphill and a daughter, Susan Hoftiezer(Robert A.). He is survived by a daughter, Janet Shane(David) and a son Bill Babcock(Arnie) and eleven grandchildren, Dan Shane (Erin), Michael, Matt, Scott Shane and Jenny Dignadice(Arnold), Joe, Jake and Mandy Hoftiezer, and Nick(Malinda), John(Kara) and Andy(Amy) Babcock and seven great grandchildren. Robert graduated from East Aurora High in 1944. He enlisted in the Army Air Force Reserve in 1944. He was called to active duty on April 15, 1944 and served until 1946. He attended Aurora College for 2 years and transferred to Bradley University, graduating in 1950. Robert and Virginia owned and operated Babcock, Inc. DBA Roto Rooter for over 55 yrs. Bob’s last meal was a snicker bar. Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at The Lariat Steakhouse 2232 W. Glen Peoria, Il on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 6:00-8:00pm.
