Obituary for Robert E. Turner Sr.
Robert E. Turner Sr. 85, passed away on May 26, 2009 at his residence in Bartonville. Born on October 18, 1923 to Thomas and Maude Mitchell Turner in Paden City, WV. He married Dorothy Gaynell Rockwell in Paden City in 1940, she preceded him in death on October 17, 1983. Seven brothers and five sisters also preceded him in death. Surviving are his children; Rita Boyd of Adrian, MI, Donna (Thomas E.) Snider of Pekin, Robert E. Turner Jr. of Bartonville, William E. (Debra) Turner of Mapleton, sister Hazel Wallace of Portland, OR and brother Thomas Turner. He is also survived by his grandchildren; William C. Boyd, Thomas H. Snider, William E. Turner, Donna M. Boyd, Jennifer L. Pilarsky, Deborah K. Zolikoff, Shayna M. MacNaught, Traci A. Whitby, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert served in the Army during WWII and worked as a Production Superintendent at Lonza for 18 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 86 in Paden City and a self-taught classical guitarist. Cremation has been accorded and graveside services will be held on July 11, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Paden City Memorial Garden in Paden City, WV. Memorials may be made in his name to the American Heart Association for Stroke Victims at www.strokeassociation.org The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
