Obituary for Robert L. Slatterly
Robert L. Slatterly 91, of East Peoria, formally of Peoria and Pekin passed away on Wednesday September 9, 2009 at Manor Care at Riverview. Born in Schenectady, New York on March 7, 1918 to William and Susan Loomis Slatterly. He married Dorothy Sherman in Brooklyn, NY on June 20, 1942. She preceded him in death on April 24, 1999, he then married Betty Marvin on August 29, 2004 in Peoria, she survives. He is survived by his son, Thomas (Cathy) Slatterly of Montgomery, OH and his son-in-law Dr. Jack Ruskusky of Pekin. His 6 grand and 8 great grandchildren also survive. His daughter Susan Ruskusky also preceded him in death. Robert served in the Army during WWII and received a Purple Heart. He worked in sales, retiring in 1983. Robert was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where a memorial mass will be held on Monday September 14, at 10 a.m. Father Timothy Nolan will officiate. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School. Burial of his cremains will be at a later date in Catskills, NY. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
