Obituary for Roger Taylor
Roger D. Taylor, 67, of Pekin passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Timbercreek Health Care Center in Pekin. Born in Flatrock, IL on May 7, 1946 to Gerald and Juanita Heflin Taylor. He married Margaret Howard in Lincoln on August 30, 1964. She survives along with his children, Tammy Calhoun of Pekin, Sherry Taylor of South Pekin, Angela Phillips of Pekin, Ginger (David) Lowe of South Pekin, David Monroe of Pekin; brother, James (Edith) Taylor and sister, Patricia Taylor both of Pekin; half brother, Kenneth (Dawn) Monroe of Pekin; half sister, Susie Taylor of Harrisburg and his 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. His parents; son, Joseph Taylor; brother, Donald Taylor and 2 step-brothers preceded him in death. Roger worked for Tazewell Machine Works and later for Caterpillar. He was an avid Cubs fan, loving father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather and was a member of the Community Fellowship Church in South Pekin. A funeral service will be held at Abts Mortuary on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at noon. Rev. Dowice Ashley will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the service.
