Obituary for Roger Wolfe
Roger Harvey "Corky" Wolfe, 68, passed away Thursday August 11, 2011 at 10:07 pm  at his home in Glasford surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

He was born September 27, 1942 in Glasford, the son of Orville Otto Wolfe and Lydia Davis Wolfe Saylor. He is survived by three sons,  Jerry (Debbie) Wolfe of Glasford, Todd Bender of Bartonville, and Derek Wolfe of Peoria. Two daughters, Amy Wolfe of Peoria and Lora Wolfe of Canton.  14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are three brothers, Terry (Ruth Ann) Wolfe of Williamsfield, James Wolfe of Springlake, and Tom (Cindy) Wolfe of Springlake, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Virgil and Jerry Wolfe and two sisters, Rose Wolfe and Gloria Tanner, and step-father Earl Saylor. Roger served in the United States Army as a combat soldier in Vietnam from 1968-1970.

He worked for his Uncle Dale and Aunt Opal at Sprague's Phillips 66 Oil Company in Glasford throughout his teen years and also worked construction and later was employed by  N.E. Finch in Mapleton as a steel laborer. Roger loved riding his bicycle around town, Nascar, motorcycles, mowing grass and lending a helping hand wherever needed.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 35 in Glasford and the Voiture Locale 529. Visitation will be Thursday August 18, 2011 at 1:00 at Glasford Baptist Church, with a Celebration of Life Service starting at 2:00, with Pastor Paul Cook officiating.  Military Rites and burial of ashes will immediately follow the Celebration of Life service at Lancaster Cemetary in Glasford, IL. The family would like to give a special thanks to nurses Debbie and Jan from Graham Home Health and nurse Debbie, Karen Haun and Pastor Kevin from Graham Hospital Hospice for all of their support during the last few months. Memorials may be made to Graham Hopital Home Health and Hospice or PAWS.
