Obituary for Ronald Lomax
Ronald Dean Lomax 72, of Bartonville died Sunday February 14, 2010 at home following a five year battle of heart complications. Ron was born on June 9, 1937 in Peoria, son of Orville (Joe) and Anna Mae Smith Lomax, brother to Richard and Shirley Boyer, husband to Lucille, and father of Lisa and Brad, grandfather of Quinton, Tristen, Mason, Dalton, Sierra, Isaac, and Hailey, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Ron attended Manual High School. He was Class President and Prom King. He participated in baseball, basketball, football and track. After graduating in 1955, he joined the Army and was honorably discharged and later attended Illinois Central College. Ron married Lucy Hall on February 23, 1963 in Peoria. Ron owned and operated his insurance business for 15 years afterward retiring from Midwest Construction. Ron was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching the Cubs, Bears, golf and NASCAR. He also took great pleasure in being a wonderful, loving, and caring husband, dad and grandpa. He was hardly recognizable without his Jesus Saves hat. Ron was faithful to the Lord everyday in every way. God was the most important presence in Ron’s life. Ron was happiest putting family, friends, and even strangers before himself. On Sunday morning Ron was reunited with his parents Orville (Joe) and Anna Mae, and his siblings Richard and Shirley before God. He was survived by his wife Lucy of Bartonville, his children Lisa Lomax of Peoria, and Brad Lomax of Pekin, also his grandchildren Quinton, Tristen, Mason, Dalton, Sierra, Isaac, and Hailey. A Memorial Service will be held Friday February 19, 2010 at 2pm with a visitation 1 hour prior at 1pm. The services will be held at the Bartonville Christian Church 4900 W. Pfeiffer Rd., Bartonville, IL. Rev Jack Thompson will officiate. Ron’s family would like to thank the rehabilitation staff of Saint Francis Medical Center as well as the Home Health Care Professionals. Memorial Donations can be given to his church, otherwise give a friend a flower or a stranger a kind word in loving memory of Ron Lomax. Cremation rites have been accorded.
