Obituary for Roy Harry Muni

Roy Harry Muni, 75, of Bartonville, Illinois, suffered a heart attack and passed away February 20, 2024, at the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. Roy was born to Harry and Ruth Muni on November 30, 1948, in New York, New York. He graduated from Ramapo High School in Wykoff, New Jersey, in 1966, before moving to Illinois to attend college. Roy was a talented athlete who loved playing sports and received a scholarship to play football at Bradley University. He stayed in Peoria after graduating and went on to work in management at a local grocery store, educated youth as a substitute teacher in the public school system, earned a master’s degree, and retired in 2015 after working at Caterpillar for over 25 years.

Roy was a beloved Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and friend focused on being a selfless servant of the Lord and his family. He was married to Star Muni (Cole) for 53 years until she went home to the Lord in 2023. Roy is survived by his two children; Laura (Timothy) Glaue and Michael (Michelle) Muni; three grandchildren – Miranda Glaue, Ethan Muni, and Michaela Muni; younger brother – Walter (Lucinda) Muni; and younger sister Janet (John – deceased) Manning who still survive.

Roy held many titles in his life, but his favorite roles were being a Christian and a family man. He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church in Peoria, Illinois, and served as the church treasurer for many years. He participated in short-term missions, which included a mission trip to Paris, France in 1995, to focus on reaching the lost. He was a giving man that provided care for his beloved wife; cherished every minute with his children and grandchildren; and loved his siblings dearly.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 2-4pm and Memorial Service from 4-5pm. Services will be held at Fellowship Bible Church, 4006 N. Sterling Ave., Peoria, IL 61614. Donations in memory of Roy Muni can be made to: Fellowship Bible Church.
