Obituary for Ruperto Ortiz
Ruperto Rodriguez Ortiz of Pekin IL, went to be with the Lord our God on Sunday
February 18, 2018 at 7:30am at the age of 90 years old.
He was born on July 14, 1927 to Porfirio and Guadalupe Ortiz in Mercedes Texas.
His parents, three sons (at birth), 1 grand daughter Fay Penelope Alverez, 1 great
grandson Julio DePerio, 1 brother Hilario (Sam) Ortiz, 1 sister Noemi Martinez, and 2
brother-in-laws Jose Ponce and Frank Garza proceeded him in death.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years Concha Flores Ortiz, his 6 children
Connie Alverez and Jose Carlos de Leon, Chena Maria and Randy Counterman,
Guillermo and Sandy Ortiz, David Ortiz and Jamie Clark, Daniel Ortiz, and Leticia and
Larry Pinnick. 9 brothers and sisters Teodora Ponce, Ernestina and Oscar Garcia, Isabel
Guadalupe Garza, Porfirio and Maria Ortiz, Joel and Guadalupe Ortiz, Connie and David
Blake, Benjamin and Maria Ortiz, Antonio Ortiz, and Irma and Bob Widrick, 19 grand
children, 51 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.
He was a very Proud Marine.
He worked all his life as a shoe repairman (A Family Trade) owning his own shoe repair
shop most of his life. He worked at Caterpillar and Walmart prior to his retirement.
Celebration of life is set for Saturday February 24, 2018 at 2 o'clock pm, at Mapleton,
Church, 9409 S Powell Rd, Mapleton, Il. 61607 dinner to follow in hall behind church.
