Obituary for Russell "Warny" Davis
Russell W. “Warny” Davis, 74, of Pekin passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Pekin Manor. He was born on May 27, 1943 in Pekin to Wayne and Jessie Dailey Davis. He married Twyla “Becky” Fitzanko December 12, 1964 in Pekin; she survives. He is also survived by his sons, Rodney (Elaine) Davis of Indianapolis, IN, Greg Davis of Pekin; daughter, Becky Krus of Pekin; grandchildren, Calli Bertschy, Kristin Davis, Zachary Davis, Robert Krus; sister, Diane Winders; brother, Bob Davis and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Davis. Warny served in the U.S. Army and worked for Caterpillar; retiring in 1994 after 30 years of service. After retiring he worked at Parkview Golf Course and was a Pekin Hospital volunteer. He was a member of First Christian Church in Pekin, Pekin Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies-Valley of Peoria, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Mohammed Temple-Shrine, Pekin Moose Lodge, U.A.W. Local 974 and Ducks Unlimited Committee. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and Retriever Dog Trials. He was an avid football fan. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Abts Mortuary in Pekin. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Pekin. Pastor Hank Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin with Military Honors. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children in his name.
